Energime Institute Implementation Protocol

To build an effective education and training platform will require distinct steps. The core of Energime Institute’s courses will be geared towards solving current existing resource management and environmental challenges globally. Additional course materials and a matching curriculum will need to be developed specifically by EU professors to meet the unique demands and circumstances of various regions and countries throughout the world. These same courses can also be developed to respond to specific industries and government partner requirements as needed. Course materials will be dictated by what our professors discover through their advanced research and observations as it relates to their specific areas of expertise and course mission.

In most cases the course focus and suggestions for meeting those challenges covered in the course will be a direct result of those exploratory studies. Once the curriculums are decided upon by the course professor and University leadership, course lectures will need to be organized and recorded onto a master video discs and stored on University servers. Additional supportive videos and ancillary visual materials will also be collected and integrated during this period. To support this process will require a film crew, a tech person to organize and upload all course and supportive materials to the online platform, and translators to convert course materials from English into the local dominant language. In many cases travel will be necessary to construct each course as course professors are located in many varied locations globally due to existing commitments.

Once a full curriculum of core courses (Estimated to be around 40 Courses) is agreed upon by University leadership, supportive courses from partnering global Universities will be explored to identify what additional and complimentary courses are suitable for inclusion in the EU platform. At that point Energime will arrange (when possible) to either record or make use of existing courses that support our overall mission and core course offerings.

All online courses will be supported by on-the-ground course proctors and hands-on workshops when possible and feasible. We suggest those hands-on course sizes and timeframes to be limited to 25 students at 2 hour intervals over 10 sessions. This will allow adequate time for focus, questions, and answers with individual students. Course professors will travel to partnering regions periodically for lectures and mentoring opportunities each semester.

Ideally demonstration facilities will be part of the on-site experience although most basic classes can be taught in a conventional classroom.

A demonstration facility would be a self-contained modular building/greenhouse which would include solar, wind, geothermal, and heat exchange components supporting advanced aeroponic vertical farm systems, aquaculture, and algae production applications. In addition soil remediation, farm waste management, water storage and capturing technologies, and advanced livestock management systems would also be part of the facility. It is hoped in the future that EU training annexes will be attached as an included addition to regional sustainable projects and production sites globally to provide students with actual technical training opportunities. Once the platform is in place and a standard training facility designed and implemented it should be relatively easy to replicate this process and scale the platform out with relative ease world-wide.

As part of the overall development of the Energime Institute Platform the following steps and procedures will need to be defined and instituted:

Establish Overall Policy & Procedure

The establishment of standard policies and compliance processes in the areas of personnel, student affairs and overall operating procedures with the purpose achieve consistency and understanding across its schools, departments and systems.

Establish Student Admission Criteria

Align admission requirements with the accrediting agencies and university programs when necessary.

Establish Professors Hiring Process

Establish a clear process of hiring and retaining the best full-time and adjunct faculty.

Establish Review Process

Establish a review and feedback process to ensure EU’s students receive a world class education from experts in their fields. The purpose of these evaluations is to provide feedback on the quality and effectiveness of the teaching and learning process.

Curriculum Overview

In an effort to ensure curriculum alignment and articulation within each course, a Scope and Sequence is developed to provide a brief outline of a program’s standards and a recommended teaching order for any given course.

The Scope and Sequence course document outlines three crucial learning criteria:

  • student learning objectives that make up one or more learning units
  • the suggested order for teaching the content and skills
  • the recommended number of lessons and amount of time for instruction (10 sessions or 20 semester hours per semester course)

As a result, Energime will work with professors and scope and sequence organizers to develop a syllabus for each course based on 10 Sessions and 20 Semester hours x credit for 30-40 courses. This work will include:

  • Define Lecture and discussion framework
  • Define Lab /field work and technology integration into each course
  • Establish Evaluation framework

Development Process for Scope and Sequence:

1) Determining the Scope and Sequence involves collaboration with content area experts for:

  • Expertise in the content area
  • Representation across content
  • Representation across discipline areas

2) Develop Scope and Sequence Chart to creation alignment curriculum articulation, specifically to:

  • Create a back loaded scope and sequence based on accrediting agency requirements or frameworks and assessments
  • Add objectives determined by program needs
  • Identify and highlight essential learning to be assessed
  • Review and edit the draft document
  • Submit the draft of the scope and sequence to stakeholders for review
  • Make changes as appropriate
  • Finalize scope and sequence
  • Submit final draft to stakeholders for approval
  • Collect materials needed for syllabus development
  • Review syllabus with professors/instructors to:
    • Ensure that instructor divides the curriculum appropriately
    • Ensure the pacing of the material being taught (determine how much time will be spent on each learning objective)

Establish Master Schedule

To provide Master Course Schedules & Registration Information

Administrative/Departmental Tasks

  • Establish Area of Expertise among faculty/instructors
  • Establish student tutoring support for each course
  • Establish pricing model for each program
  • Establish overall student satisfaction process
  • Establish Departmental budgets based on:
    • Salaries
    • Licenses
    • Textbooks
    • Field studies/labs/coursework

Establish Technology Guidelines and Policies, to include:

  • Acceptable Use and Accessibility
  • Email Policies:
  • Email Usage
  • Email as Public Records
  • Spam Policy
  • Information Security and Compliance
  • Identity & Passwords
  • Intellectual Property
  • Wireless Networking Policy
  • Purchasing & E-Commerce
  • Web related Policies:
    • Web Administration Policies & Standards
    • Web Identity & Graphic Standards

Establish Communication Policy and Process

To develop and provide information to students, employees and others in the following areas:

  • Academic Concerns: Academic Affairs
  • Student Issues: Student Development
  • Administrative: Human Resources

Phase II- Technology Integration

Internet Partner

Energime Institute will partner with an internet firm with a middleware software product designed to managed and deliver any type of digital content, including but not limited to, live camera feed, content stored, on-or-off site premise servers. This entity can manage content from various data feeds, multiple data networks, physical users, and/or satellite or cable feeds, to any type of internet access device, anywhere in the world, at any time. This will need to be a rules-based content management platform for content ingestion, storage and distribution. It can be applied in both the educational setting and in enterprise multi-hub environments.

Various implementation business proposals and scenarios are available depending on available financing and prospective partnerships.
